Finding Items

The Library doesn't have what I'm looking for, how can I get it?

If you're looking for a book or journal article for an assignment, use InterLibrary Loan to request the item. If the library is missing something you think we should own, you can use this form to request a library acquisition.

My professor told me a book/article/movie was on reserve at the library, what does this mean?

Reserves are items that have limited circulation so that more students can have access to them. Typically, a reserve item can be checked out for two hours and cannot leave the library.

You can look up reserve items in the Course Reserves section of WorldCat Discovery.  Once you find the item you need, ask the assistant at the main library desk to check out the item to you.

Does the library have the textbooks for my class?

No, we do not purchase class textbooks. Some professors do place copies on reserve, however, so check with your professor to find out.

Who do I Ask About...

I need help with a paper/project/assignment, who can I talk to?

The librarians are a great place to start when you need help finding information. Reference librarians can show you how to use databases and other search tools on the library website or help you refine your topic. Librarians are usually available to help Monday-Friday during the regular semester. You can set up an appointment online or stop by the Library and IT Services desk for assistance.

I can't find a book that is supposed to be on the shelf.

You can notify one of the student assistants at the main desk and they will attempt to locate the book for you. If it really is missing, they'll notify the library staff, who will either locate the book or acquire a replacement

Who can I talk to about applying for a job at the library?

The form for student job applications is located on the library website at https://www.ursinus.edu/library/studentjobs/
